<P>据美国国家航空和宇行局(NASA)发布的新闻报导，美国东部时间3月19日凌晨2点12分（北京时间3月19日下午2点12分），NASA雨燕卫星在太空深层探测到有史以来最强烈的恒星爆炸，其余辉在地球上通过肉眼也能看见。更让天文学家惊异的是，爆炸发生的距离跨过宇宙可见范围的一半。 </P>
<P>这次恒星爆炸也叫伽马射线爆发。天文学家认为，这次爆炸发生在75亿光年之外的牧夫座，之前在如此遥远距离之外的任何物体都未曾达到人肉眼的可见度。目前在没有月光的漆黑夜晚，人们肉眼所能见到的最远天体是螺旋星系M33，距离地球2百90万光年。
<P>天文学家已经开始对此次爆炸進行分析研究，迄今为止对它为何如此强大还不清楚，也不知道为何其余辉比其它爆炸的余辉要明亮的多。
