<p style="text-indent: 22pt; line-height: 200%"><font color="#333333">科学家最近发现，一种穴居盲鱼并不盲，它们能够利用大脑内部的松果体来“看”外界。一种学名为墨西哥丽脂鲤(Astyanaxmexicanus) 的鱼也叫墨西哥盲鱼或无眼鱼，它们生活在墨西哥一些地下山洞中，鱼体呈长形、侧扁、尾鳍呈叉形、头较短，体长可达8厘米。
<P>据美国《自然》杂志网站3月1日报道，由于这些盲鱼没有完整的眼睛结构，科学家一直认为它们不能视物。但在一个偶然的情况下，美国马里兰大学的研究员萩原正辉(Masato Yoshizawa)却发现事实并非如此。
<P>有一天，在清理实验室里的墨西哥盲鱼鱼缸时，萩原正辉发现当他移动吸管时，盲鱼的幼儿就会朝吸管的影子游去。这种寻找暗处躲藏的反应，通常是那些居住在光源充足地方的鱼特有的自我保护机制。而令人意想不到的是，墨西哥盲鱼也有这种反应。他说：“我们感到十分吃惊，因为墨西哥盲鱼已经在绝对黑暗的地方生存了近一百万年了。”
<P>那么无眼鱼又是怎么视物的呢？墨西哥盲鱼的幼儿虽然拥有非常简单且随着年龄退化的眼部组织，但这些组织没有任何感光色素。而且当科学家把这些组织切除后，墨西哥盲鱼的幼儿仍然对光有反应。
<P>最后研究人员才发现，原来盲鱼利用的是它们的松果体，充满视网膜色素的松果体常被人称为“第三只眼”。当萩原正辉把它切除后，他发现盲鱼不再对光有反应。
<P>英国的视觉色素专家吉姆·波马克表示：“越来越多的证据显示，一些动物的松果体能够起到类似眼睛的作用，这项研究直接证实了这一点。”</P></font></td>
