<P>说实在的，在今天做个科学家，不管是哪个学科的科学家都是受罪。尤其是医学家更受罪。今天这个怪病，明天那个怪病，想下手治都不知道这个「病」严格的说到底叫不叫病。</P>
<P>比如，23岁的马来西亚女子西蒂与家人住在榴槤东甲，她脚趾甲下的皮肤会自动裂开，吐出晶石，吐出之后皮肤会自动闭合。</P>
<P>大家都知道，人造珍珠也要有贝壳这个基本环境，而且也需要很长时间才可以形成。但西蒂的脚趾甲似乎代替了贝壳。西蒂排出的晶石色彩缤纷，状似水晶，每次通常排出5粒晶石。2006年10月首次排石，排出一颗白色、看似珊瑚的小晶石，在最近数天只排出2颗弹珠大的晶石，分别为绿色和珍珠色。</P>
<P>这件事的轰动，是因为她在“排石”前10分钟会呕吐兼牙痛，痛苦不堪，她求助医院把病根除掉，才被媒体披露出来。</P>
<P>据英国媒体报导，电视台报导了西蒂的奇特病征后，西蒂迅即成为公众焦点，许多人登门造访，有人更出价购买她的晶石，她的母亲说：“人们只是好奇想知道晶石怎样从我女儿的脚趾长出来，而我们不是为了出名，我们只想有人研究、医治我的女儿。”</P>
<P>西蒂称在排石前，会呕吐兼牙痛，那时她只想让晶石快点出来；她指出，晶石偶尔会在她睡觉时排出，部分较大的晶石更要挖出来，数个月前的X光检查并未发现异况。</P>
<P>国际医药大学人类生物系副教授贾德森形容西蒂的异能“在生物学上是不可能”。但是在现实中它却实实在在就摆在自己眼前，否认不得，这极大的撞击着生物学家所掌握的知识和理论。</P>
<P>贾德森说：“脚趾能长出骨，但骨不会这样掉出来。人体会长出石块，如肾脏和胆囊的钙石，有时胆结石吸收了胆囊的颜色后，会看似钻石和宝石……但脚趾长出石块听来犹如都市传说”。</P>
<P>现在，没听说、没见过的，都仿佛突然争着从平地里冒出来，西蒂脚趾吐出的晶石就是一个很典型的例子。它能算是病吗？很多人都不认为这是病，只是把它归于「神奇」而已。也许，它出现的目地真的就是为了改变人类僵化不变的固有观念。 </P>
