<p style="text-indent: 22pt; line-height: 200%"><font color="#333333"> 江苏嘉定（今属上海市）人王鸣盛是乾隆甲戌年榜眼，官至内阁学士。在家闲居时，有一天，一无赖喝醉了酒，到王鸣盛的家门口破口大骂。守门人看不下去了，便费了好大劲才将制止住他。
<p>第二天，无赖酒醒了，他的母亲拉着他到王鸣盛家中请罪，王鸣盛根本没当回事，笑着道谢说：“昨天你是喝醉了，我不怪你，只是以后再喝醉酒乱骂别人，否则早晚会遇到灾祸的。”</p>
<p>这个人回去后，从此戒酒终身，再也没有惹出过什么麻烦。</p>
<p>陆玉珍是钱塘徐印香的妻子，她生性仁慈严正、有雅量。家中有两个婢女，一个叫来喜，一个叫来庆，陆玉珍对她们非常好，衣食周到，偶有疾病，总是尽量帮助医治，晚上还在灯下教她们识字读书，即使偶然有过失，陆玉珍也只是呵斥教育而已，从没有鞭挞过她们。</p>
<p>有一天，准备吃午饭时，婢女来喜端着汤送了进来，结果一不小心将碗摔到地上，热汤撒到了陆玉珍的手上和衣服上，来喜害怕受到责骂而哭了起来。陆玉珍平静自然的对她说：“衣服脏了不值得可惜，还可以洗干净吗？手痛过一会儿也就好了，碗碎了更算不上什么了，况且这只是你的无心之过。”说完，仍极力的安慰来喜，一点都没有责怪的意思。</p>
<p>犯了过失没有遭到恼怒的责怪打骂，反而受到极力的抚慰，有几个人遇到这种事会不被感动和感恩呢？相信婢女来喜一定会自己相信婢女来喜一定会自己反<b>省</b>和改正过失了。还有王鸣盛如果对无赖醉汉严加责罚，那样只会造成怨恨，而王鸣盛以一句真心为他好的劝慰之语，令那人从此改邪归正，这就是善心和宽恕的力量吧。善心和宽恕能真正的改变和感化人，是避免怨恨和矛盾的良方。
