<p style="text-indent: 22pt; line-height: 200%"><font color="#333333">明朝太祖洪武年间，安东集市上来了个女尼，法名寂性。她来到集市之后，托钵乞食，有时候人们便把残羹剩饭，或刚开始变质的食物倒在她的钵里，她都照单全收，只要填饱肚子就行，对于味道是好是坏，爱吃什么，不爱吃什么，一概都不作计较。
<P>其实，出家人专门吃素，这是佛教传入中国后才逐渐形成的规定。早期佛教并不是这样。当年释迦牟尼佛传法之初，为了消除出家弟子们对于世间的贪恋，便以身作则的持钵要饭乞食，不蓄私财，乞食过程中，施主给你什么，你就吃什么，由不得你喜欢不喜欢。这样说来，这个寂性女尼倒是真有几分早期佛教的遗风。
<P>当寂性开始乞食时，许多人对她非常轻视，瞧不起一位游方的尼姑。寂性却对人们对她的轻视与鄙夷视若不见。一次寂性乞食时，大雨倾盆，瓢泼而下，狂风骤起，人们纷纷躲進屋里，关上门窗，有些躲不及的，则躲在屋檐底下或墙屋背面，只有寂性却好像什么事也没发生似的，独个儿走在大街上，任凭风吹雨打。
<P>这时，有的躲雨人，隐隐听见她嘴里还在吟着苏东坡的词：《定风波·莫听穿林打叶声》：
<P>“莫听穿林打叶声，何妨吟啸且徐行。<BR>竹杖芒鞋轻胜马，谁怕？一蓑烟雨任平生。 <BR>料峭春风吹酒醒，微冷，山头斜照却相迎。<BR>回首向来萧瑟处，归去，也无风雨也无晴。”
<P>消息传开，慢慢的人们对这寂性尼的荣辱不惊，淡泊宁静的精神境界开始渐渐佩服。
<P>后来在某一年的元宵节，人们倾城出动，上街看灯。一位妇人的孩子走丢了，寂性听到有妇人哭叫，知是孩子走失，便劝慰她，母子定会团圆。路人大多认识寂性这个讨饭尼，便请她找到那孩子。寂性沉思一会，便说出了孩子的下落，大家便一起去果然发现了走丢的孩子。
<P>这件事传开后，人们方知寂性不仅品德高尚，而且还有神通，便对她极为尊重。<BR> <BR>寂性晚年时，来到当地吉祥庵定居。寂性常常写一些偈子劝告别人。一次，寂性看到庵里新来的女尼在佛法修炼上用心不切，就写了首偈子，送给她说：
<P>奉劝学道人，学道要认真。<BR>如若心不切，苦海永沉沦。
<P>对社会上那些常人，一次寂性见他们整天浸在身心无穷无尽的烦恼里，不由的生出深深的怜悯之心，作偈一首，贴在街头道：
<P>大地浩无边，众生多难数。<BR>几个聪明人，跳出轮回苦。
<P>后来，寂性在吉祥庵盘膝坐化，无疾而终。</P></font></td>
