<P>来信收悉。很高兴你认真读了我的信，而且看来你也做了自己独立的思考。来信说到现在过“春节”越过越没意思，看春晚没劲，大吃大喝、逛街购物也远不如从前那么有兴趣了。其实，这也就是我上一封信提到的另一个问题。把“新年”改称“春节”，表面上只是叫法不同，其实过年所包含的中华正统文化的内涵却因此被割断了。因为失去了原有的文化内涵，人们自然会觉的越来越没劲了。
<P>传统上新年不仅仅是正月初一这一天。过新年是从腊月初八开始，直到正月十五结束，比现在西方的“假日季节”（Holiday Season）还长一些。过新年的主要内容也远比“假日季节”更加丰富，主题基本上围绕着感恩过去一年来神明的保佑、为来年祈福以及祭祀祖先、追溯传统等等，带着厚重的文化内涵。
<P>腊月初八，俗谓“腊八节”，这一天各地都有喝腊八粥的习俗。民间称传统历法的十二月为“腊月”。这里的“腊”在古时是祭祀的意思，按《说文解字》：“腊，合也，合祭诸神者。”远在商代，中国就有连天地、神灵、祖先一起祭祀的习惯，叫做“合祭”。一年春、夏、秋、冬四次大祭，其中以冬祭规模最大。这种祭祀，表达了古代人一种朴素、谦卑的心理，意思是说：一年到头了，能得到丰衣足食，该感谢神明啊！因为冬祭多在十二月进行，因此从周代开始，便把十二月叫做腊月，将举行冬祭这一天称为“腊日”。喝腊八粥的习俗则源于佛教，为的是纪念佛教的创始人释迦牟尼在这一天吃了牧羊女用苹果糯米团子煮的粥，在菩提树下得道成佛。佛教传入中国后，腊月初八便固定下来成为腊月的一个重要节日，人们以腊八粥供奉神佛、祭拜祖先，以各色米果相杂熬制的腊八粥也代表着感恩和祈盼来年丰收的意思。雍和宫内至今仍有一口重数吨的古铜大锅，为昔时皇家煮腊八粥用具。寺院则多在这一天举行浴佛会、诵经、散粥等等。
<P>腊八之后的腊月二十三也是一个大节，俗谓“过小年”，要祭拜灶神。民间认为灶神监管、看护着一家人，到了腊月二十三要上天汇报。至除夕再贴上新的灶神像，叫迎灶神。古人相信人间的一切事都有神灵掌管、安排和监看，不但灶台上有灶神，井有井神、门有门神、田里还有土地神等等。这些神灵各司其责监管着人间的善恶，而迎送这些神灵都在腊月二十三至除夕期间举行。
<P>腊月二十三之后，二十四或二十八民间有大扫除的习俗。因为这时候诸神上天去了，平日里扫帚不敢动的地方（怕亵渎无处不在的神灵），这时候都可以清扫清扫了。
<P>到除夕这一天，过新年开始进入高潮。除旧迎新之际最重要的事情是祭神祭祖。除了晚上合家吃团圆饭和守岁之外，这天正午就开始在佛堂摆齐供品，燃蜡点香，俗称起香。从此时起香火不可中断，直到初五。此外还要置天地桌（供桌）以迎接诸神下界、贴门神、请灶神像、贴春联等，都与中国人敬神的传统有关。春联的原形是桃符，因为传说中鬼怕桃木，至五代时蜀主孟旭在桃符上题字“新年纳余庆，嘉节号长春”，成为正式的春联的开始。摆供祭祖也是除夕夜的内容之一，这不仅是古人对孝道的表达，也是表达对传统道德的继承。
<P>正月初一这一天，老少黎明即起，整肃衣冠，点香烛放爆竹，开大门，设斋果茶酒于庭，拜天、地、祖先，称“新年开门大吉”。
<P>年节期间，还有丰富多彩的庙会、唱戏（各地有不同地方戏）、舞龙、舞狮、武术、杂耍等等活动，热闹非凡。庆典的气氛一直持续到正月十五元宵节之后。正月十五相传是道教天官大帝的生辰，百姓在这一天为天官大帝庆生，祈求“天官赐福”。
<P>传统的过年习俗充满了中国人敬畏天地神明、回溯传统的浓厚文化气氛。事实上这也是中华正统文化的核心所在。这种文化氛围使得古人以谦卑、知足的态度对待生活：比如取得了好的收成，人们相信那是因为神灵赐福给好人或祖上行善积德，而不是“战天斗地”的结果，所以要更加谦恭对待神灵，多行善事。因为处处都有神灵监看，人如果要做亏心事也是有所顾忌的，像今天我们经常碰到的虎狼医生、黑心商人等等也就不会那么普遍。传统上民间的祭祀内容主要在于表达恭敬、感恩、反省和许愿。顺便说一句，即使许愿，也是许诺多做善事，希望得到赐福满足所愿。这和今天在一些地方仍然存在的求财、求官、求名的“祭拜”是有区别的。经历了中共建政之后的历次“风雨”，今天的人大多不信善恶有报、不信天理昭昭，“祭拜”者本质上还是无神论者，其实真正相信的是实实在在的功名利禄。文化的内涵割断之后，徒具形式的活动在本质上已经变异，也不再具有约束人心灵的道德效力了。
<P>1949年中共建政前决定，将“正月初一”改为“春节”，而其他重大传统节日（如元宵、端午、中秋等等）都不再放假，只有政治性的纪念日才放假和举办活动，如“五一”、“六一”、“七一”、“十一”等。这样一来，不但原本丰富多彩的“过大年”被简化成“欢庆春天”，和传统年节相联系的中华正统文化内涵也被割断。在此后中共开展的“破除封建迷信”等多次政治运动中，数千年来深入民心的中华正统文化几无立锥之地。至于近二十几年的“春晚”则贯穿了对邪党歌功颂德的党文化，依靠庸俗取乐的方式迎合观众，毫无回味和内涵，自然越来越不受人欢迎。
<P>如果民众可以选择，“过年”和“春节”之间，我想多数人还是愿意“过大年”的，毕竟，我们心底流淌的依旧是华夏祖先的血脉。你说呢？
