<P>8月18日,美国国务院表示已经对中共当局拘捕高智晟以及对盲人维权人士陈光诚的审讯表示“强烈抗议”。 </P>
<P>在当天新闻例会上，美国国务院发言人凯西说，美国对陈的两个律师，以及另一位律师同时也是维权人士高智晟的拘捕，让人对中国的法制产生质疑。“没有人应该因为仅仅因为表达观点，或是对政府政策有疑问，或是要求考量民间冤情，而遭受痛苦”。凯西要求北京对法律起诉负责，撤销起诉，并释放被抓的人。 <BR>美国曾经在很多场合提出过陈光诚和高智晟的情况。美国国会参众两院在4月份曾经通过决议支持高智晟。 <BR></P></font></td>
