<p style="text-indent: 22pt; line-height: 200%"><font color="#333333"><P>这件真实的事，发生在去年冬天。 </P>
<P>那天清晨，县城城西老街的一栋居民楼突然起火了。那是40年代修建的、砖木结构的老房子——木楼梯、木窗户、木地板，一烧就着。居民们纷纷往外逃，没想到才逃出一半人，木质楼梯就“轰”一声倒塌了。剩下的9个居民只好跑到惟一没烧起来的3楼楼顶，等着消防队救援。 </P>
<P>消防队不一会赶到了，可让他们手足无措的是，这片老巷子太窄太密，消防车和云梯根本过不去。情势已经十分紧急，大火随时可能烧到顶楼。眼见着底层用以支撑整幢楼的粗木柱被烧得“嘎吱嘎吱”响，随时可能倒塌，消防队长再来不及想别的，随手拽下一位逃出来的居民披着的旧毛毯，和其他三个消防员一起拉开，对着上面大声喊：“跳！一个一个地往下跳，往毛毯上跳！背部着地！” <BR><BR>为了安全起见，他亲自示范类似背跃式跳高的动作。只有背部着地才是最安全的，而且不容易撞破旧毛毯。 <BR><BR>第一个男人跳下来了，屁股着地，可没有受伤；一个小孩子跳下来了，背部着地……人们的姿势越来越规范，顶多是从毛毯上滚下来时有些擦伤。可还有一个裹着大衣的女人站在楼顶，犹豫着不敢跳。 </P>
<P>火势越来越猛，一根柱子燃烧着忽然“喀嚓”一声断了。人们惊叫了一声，消防队长的喉咙都嘶哑了：“跳啊！你赶紧跳啊！”小楼晃荡了一下，女人终于下定决心跨过护栏跳了下来，在场的人集体惊呼：她用的分明是跳水的姿态，头部向下。女人好像一发炮弹一样迅速坠落在毛毯上，由于受力面积太小，旧毛毯“嗤”一声裂开，女人的头部重重撞到了地上，顿时鲜血横流。 </P>
<P>这个女人真是笨啊，前面的人跳得那么好，看也该看会了，在场的人都这样想着，忍不住奔了过去， <BR> <BR>奄奄一息的女人在消防队长的怀里很艰难地笑了。她的大衣敞开，大家这才看到她的小腹高高隆起。 “已经8个多月了。”女人轻声地说：“赶紧送我去医院，剖腹，它能活……” </P>
<P>那是我亲眼见着的一幕，女人后来被送去了医院，我不知道她后来有没有活下去。可我记得，那一刻所有人的沉默和感动。那是对于一个母亲来说最安全的姿势，尽管对她自己是最危险的。 </P>
<P>忽然想起了丰子恺《护生画集》里面的一幅：有人烹煮黄鳝，发现黄鳝熟了以后头尾弯成弓型，中部翘在滚水外。剖开来看，发现里面密密麻麻全是鱼子-原来所有的母亲都是一样的，心里最安全的，永远给予孩子。 <BR></P></font></td>
