<p style="text-indent: 22pt; line-height: 200%"><font color="#333333">有个行为恶劣的年轻人，一次得了寒症，在昏沉中，魂魄出窍，离开了家门，但是却怅怅不知前往何处。忽见有人往来，便随着前行，不知不觉中来到了冥府。在冥府中，他见到了一个官吏，恰好是自己昔日的朋友。那个官吏为他查看了生死簿后，皱着眉头说：“你经常虐待父母，犯了忤逆不孝之罪，根据冥府的律法，将来要下汤锅的。但是现在你的寿命还没有到，你先回去，到时候再说。”
<P>年轻人十分恐惧，便跪下来请求官吏告诉自己解脱的办法。官吏摇摇头说：“你的罪业太大了，没有办法解脱的。”年轻人痛哭不止，再三恳求解脱的办法。
<P>官吏沉思了一会儿，说道：“你听说过这样的一个故事吗？有一位禅师登坛讲经，在开讲之前，提了一个问题：老虎的脖子上挂了个金铃铛，什么人能把它解下来？众人都答不出来。这时，一个小和尚说：为什么不让系铃的人解呢？你得罪了父母，应该真诚的向父母忏悔，或许可以免除你的罪业吧。”年轻人担心自己的罪业深重，不是一时半儿会就可以解脱的。那个冥吏笑着又讲了一个故事：“你听说过有个姓王的杀猪的屠户，放下屠刀，立地成佛的故事吗？”
<P>随后，官吏派人将年轻人送回人间。年轻人赫然惊醒，出了一身汗，寒症也痊愈了。从此他洗心革面，孝敬父母。父母也非常爱怜他。他后来活到七十多岁才去世。
<P>虽然不知道他在冥府是否免除了下汤锅的惩罚，但从其这么高的寿数看，冥府似乎已经知道了他的忏悔之意并原谅了他。
