<p style="text-indent: 22pt; line-height: 200%"><font color="#333333"><P>二零零七年，加拿大举办“新唐人全球华人新年晚会”期间，中共使领馆在全加范围内诬蔑、诋毁晚会。今年晚会巡回期间，美国纽约州州议员和加州一些地区政府，均收到来自中领馆的诬蔑信件，胁迫州议员不要以任何方式“支持”新唐人圣诞晚会和新年晚会。 </P>

<P>当神韵艺术团以更大的规模重返加拿大时，人们明白了中共这一切干扰举动背后的原因。 </P>
<P>退休教师罗斯玛丽•何伯（Rosemary Heborn）十四日观看了神韵演出后，称赞表演很精彩。她说，“演员的服装非常华美，女演员们都很漂亮。服装胜过好莱坞演员的时装。”
<P>何伯说，“我的朋友告诉我说，中国大使馆试图阻止人们来看演出。他们是没有权力这样做的，这是加拿大。看了演出，我才明白他们（中使馆）为什么这样干。他们迫害自己的人民，被揭露出来了。”
<P>当记者问到环境部长约翰•贝尔德是否受到中使馆的这类干扰时，环境部长说，“我去年参加了神韵招待会，今年，我很高兴又来参加了。”
<P>谈到中共对晚会的干扰，国会议员皮埃尔•宝莱福（Pierre Poilievre）说，“我不会理睬中使馆让不让我来看晚会……加拿大倡导自由。这就是为什么我很高兴作为哈珀政府的一员，因为总理和保守党政府在世界范围内捍卫自由，包括支持法轮功在中国和全世界捍卫基本人权。我为我们政府的所为感到自豪。”
<P>谈到中共对神韵演出的干扰，曾经担任加拿大外交官三十年之久的布赖恩•麦克亚当说，“（神韵演出的成功）正是它们（中共）所害怕的，它们不希望（演出）成功。因为中共是一种邪教，它们不想让人们意识到还有其它的生活方式。”
<P>麦克亚当说，“历史上，暴君们都想以他们自己的意志来定义什么是文化，但是他们从来都没有成功过。他们可能会得逞一段时间，但是大部份的世人都会意识到这点。比如纳粹德国是一种邪教。苏联也是一样，他们想要摧毁俄罗斯的文化。虽然很不幸，这些暴君存在了几十年，但是最终人性的精神将真正的文化再次带回到了社会。能再次看到这种文化真是太好了。”
